Good morning.
I received my throwerblade on January 28, 2026. After unpacking it and examining the parts, I again watched the video on installation. Somewhere in the video was a message to use a different video if your snowblower was older. Mine is a Troy-bilt purchased in early 2015. I reviewed those directions and compared the parts in the box. The video called for instructions and parts not found in my purchase. It appears that once the auger brackets were installed, the instructions were nearly identical.
The problem was the installation of the auger brackets. They are quite heavy and this 79 year old retired engineer had to come up with a way to hold the brackets in place in order to draw the line. I would suggest that you make a template with hole patterns for pre-2025 models so as to eliminate chances of error.
From that point, it was a fairly smooth installation. My 28” snowblower did require me to modify one hole on the blade adjustment to accept the larger carriage bolt. No big deal.
Installation of the blade arm brackets was easy and once the unit was installed, a few adjustments to get the blade to the proper clearance on the drive was equally as easy.
I have 10,000 sf of driveway. With the exception of a 40 X 60 foot section that leads to the garage doors, most of the rest of my driveway is on a couple of steep (30°) inclines so when I want to use the snowblower for blowing snow only, it is easier to remove the blade rather than contend with the added weight on the front end.
The U-shaped brackets at the back of the auger bracket are apparently intentionally loose and as a result, the nuts came off and the brackets fell off when the blade was off. Fortunately, the brackets were retrieved and I resolved this problem by using 8mm locking nuts. The brackets remain moveable without any chance of falling off. You might want to consider that.
All that being said, the device is great. I can move 30 inch swipes of snow from the flat pad of the drive with ease. Before that, the snowblower would compound the snow as the throw was not quite enough to clear the drive making the clearing tedious and more time consuming.
The thrower blade did the job perfect for what I needed it to do. A part of my driveway is gravel and it was killing my snowblower . I didn’t want to buy a plow for my truck or my little lawn tractor. I happen to stumbled across the thrower blade and figured I give it a try. Today about six inches of snow. Worked perfect. My only complaint is I don’t use it for the entire driveway. So I remove it from the machine. Which is very easy. The complaint is when the brackets are in the up position the slot they lock into isn’t tight enough to keep them from falling out. I used a rubber bungee cord to connect them and it fixed the problem. This is a great design for the job I need it to do.
I purchased this on Amazon. Let’s start with what I am using: I am using a 10+ year old 24 inch blower. This blade is a must! I do have a couple of critiques, but it doesn’t change the rating. Every snow blower should have this as an option from the manufacturer.
Wet/heavy/slush over 2 inches - there is nothing outside of 96” blade on a full size truck that will address that. Hence picture of neighbour’s drive done by a professional plough, and mine with the throw blade. When that stuff comes in; yes, you will need to clear through the night, or pay a professional. Done and said.
The assembly is straightforward enough. The manufacturer should, on its outside packaging and instructions make more prominent of the video link. What would be a suggestion for improvement/support; provide the part numbers for replacement and a link to order.
Assembly - as said, straightforward and simple enough. Personally, take the side rails off when you use the templates
Of course, you need to be satisfied with the leveling of the blowers blade. If you are going to load your blower up in a hitch carrier, (again) mine is a 24 inch blower. When you put the side brackets on, you are now looking at 26+ inches. My carrier is 28 inches.
If you have a blower over 24 inches, I can understand some of the complaints when trying to push the snow. You are not going to be able to get the same angle/deflection as a more narrow blower. I honestly do not have a recommendation for the manufacturer about this because when you pull one side in; that arm may get too clow to the tyre and make contact.
Upside and absolute necessity of having this; at lowest (or ground) setting, if there is any ice chunks, road debris, and rocks - the blade will push it aside and you don’t have to worry about the augers and shear pins.
Now, this is shouldn’t distract anyone from buying this. It is an honest recommendation to the manufacturer; put two holes at the bottom of the side plates. This would allow the user to bring the blade an inch (or two) off the ground. That way, if there is a heavy, or accumulation of snowfall overnight, it provides a balance of use of the blade and using the augers. For the moment, I am using heavy duty magnets to do this. When winter is done, I will take the side plates to our local machinist/bodyworks and have the side plates modified.
Will I buy it again - YES.
Do I recommend this - YES!
